Garden Walk
Three HPNA-area gardens took part in the 2014 Midtown Historic Neighborhoods and Landmarks (MHNL) Garden Walk, held Sunday, June 29.
The gardens of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Terry and Lori Barrio (3958 Gordon Street) and Lori and Larry Buckle (3875 Gordon Street) were open to garden enthusiasts from across the city. More than 40 gardens representing a dozen midtown neighborhoods took part in the event, which is a joint project of the Urban Bird & Nature Society and Children’s Hospital & Medical Center. HPNA had originally hoped to sponsor its own Garden Tour this year, but those plans changed when only 4 homeowners volunteered to be host gardens. Since the MHNL event was being planned for the same day, it was decided to join in with that larger effort. “We enjoyed visiting with the garden lovers who stopped by,” commented Terry Barrio. “We answered questions about the design of our garden and traded gardening tips.” Thanks to everyone who opened their gardens up for visitors. |
